Lighter, Sleeker, Stronger – that’s how Dead Foot Arms describes the new second generation of their MCS (Modified Cycle System) side folding AR-15 stock adapter. The company has been developing and testing the Gen 2 MCS for about six months and now it is finally released.
Retaining the same “fire when folded” capability, the Gen 2 MCS adapter is 1.3 oz lighter than the first generation. The folding angle is identical to Gen 1 and clears the ejection port as well as allows access to the forward assist however the Gen 2 features a stronger lockup mechanism and folds the stock closer to the lower receiver. The Gen 2 hinging part is compatible with Gen 1 buffer tubes.
The Dead Foot Arms Gen2 MCS folding stock adapters are machined out of 7075 billet aluminum and feature a Type III black hard coat anodized finish. They are shipped with the stock mounting tube which is compatible with standard AR-15 stocks. The proprietary bolt carrier group along with the dual spring bufferless recoil spring system are also included in the package. The BCG has a black nitrided finish/surface treatment and the 9310 steel bolt is magnetic particle inspected (MPI). If you want to use your own BCG in this system, you can send it to Dead Foot Arms and have it modified within their Bolt Carrier Modification Program.
The MSRP of the Gen 2 MCR for rifles is $465. There is also a Gen 2 adapter designed for 9mm AR PCCs which is offered at an MSRP of $495. Right now both adapters are discounted by $45 and are available on the company’s website at introductory prices of $420 and $450. The Gen 2 is currently available only in right side folding configuration however the left side folder will be released early in 2020.
