The Leon County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who allegedly pointed a gun at patrons of a local restaurant after an altercation Tuesday night.
Wesley Brooks, 40, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm, improper exhibition of a firearm and destruction of evidence.
According to witnesses, the incident took place at about 10 p.m. at Hurricane Grill and Wings at 6800 Thomasville Road. According to a news release, Brooks got upset with two men and pulled a gun during the argument. As the argument escalated, he pointed the weapon at the two men and shoved one of them to the ground.
At one point in the altercation, witnesses say he pulled the trigger, but no round was fired from the gun.
Brooks fled the scene and was later found at a hotel, according to the Sheriff’s Office. After speaking to investigators, Brooks said the gun was a pellet gun. He also told investigators he threw it out the window when he left the restaurant. The gun hasn’t been located yet.
Brooks was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.
