During the SHOT Show 2019, we had a chance to take a closer look at the final version of Schmeisser 60-round quad-stack AR-15 magazines and learn about their construction. Back then the company told us that Blue Line Solutions will be the importer of the magazines. Recently, they announced that their distributor has changed and now American Tactical will be bringing these magazines to stateside. In fact, these 60 rounders are already available on ATI’s website.
Here is how ATI describes these magazines and their cooperation with Schmeisser.
New for 2019 – The Schmeisser S60 .223/5.56 60 Round AR-15 Magazine!
American Tactical has partnered with German arms manufacturer Schmeisser GmbH to exclusively import and distribute the Schemisser S60 60 round AR-15 magazine. Made from glass reinforced polymer, this patent pending magazine features a unique follower system that allows for double capacity from a normal AR magazine without being bulky or cumbersome. Designed to shoot both .223 REM & 5.56X45MM, the Schmeisser S60 will give you an instant capacity upgrade over the standard AR mag at an affordable price for your AR Carbine or Pistol.
Many of you are probably asking if these mags will work with the .300 Blackout cartridge. Here is what ATI says concerning its compatibility with the .300 BLK:
The Schmeisser S60 was built specifically for .223REM or 5.56X45MM ammo only. Schmeisser & American Tactical have done some testing and found that the S60 may not operate with all types of .300 Blackout ammo. Due to inconsistancies with different brands, Schmeisser does not recommend using 300 Blackout with this magazine. Failure for the magazine to operate with 300 Blackout is not covered by American Tactical’s Limited LIfetime Warranty.
At SHOT Show, Schmeisser also stated that the MSRP in the USA will be around $70. Well, that was a precise estimation – the S60 60-round magazines are listed on ATI’s website at a price point of $69.95.
